Membership List
Contact information is provided to the secretary when joining. Each member is provided with a list of the members with their contact information. Such information is to be kept confidential. Please use only for choir purposes.
Name Tags
Each member receives a name tag. There is no charge. Ordering and distribution is done by the Treasurer.
Attendance
Please mark an A (absent) on the attendance sheet when you know ahead of time you will be away. This is important for Nancy T. when planning numbers for performances.
For an unexpected absence please notify Nancy T. or one of the Executive by phone, email or text message.
Some members have difficulty with allergies. Please do not use perfumes, body lotions, after-shave products and hair products.
Cost
$100 per year payable in September.
$50 if a member joins in January.
Music
Each member is assigned a number. Music is sorted by the music librarian and new music is put into a red folder identified with the member’s number.
Each member is provided with 2 binders, one red, one black. The red binder is for regular practices. The black binder is for performances. When a performance is planned, the conductor will distribute a list of the songs to be sung and only the performance music needs to be transferred from the red to the black binder.
Both red and black binders will be returned with music at the end of June or at the Canada Day performance.
History
The Choir was started in the City of Calgary for seniors 55 plus and was incorporated on May 11, 1977. Its structure is governed by a set of By-Laws (supplied to new members and available upon request). Since its inception, the Choir has performed at schools, senior homes, Canada Day at the Calgary Zoo, and the Calgary Stampede. We look forward to new opportunities.
